Student ideas
Students across multiple specializations worked together in this course, setting up and conducting interviews with older adults as well as developing artwork based on the stories told. Faculty and site supervisors supported the students in facilitating interviews with older adults at Wynfield LTC, Hillsdale Terraces, and the Oshawa Senior Community Centre.
Students from the Personal Support Worker area set up and conducted the interviews. Fine Arts students received written and audio material from the anonymous interviews and worked to develop multiple concepts to capture the essence of each story using a combination of literal and symbolic imagery. These concepts are being developing into 2 artworks per student. Here artworks will be reproduced and installed as public art pieces at a time and location to be determined.
